President and Vice-Chancellor is new Chair for Corridor ¼â½ÐÊÓƵapp

Professor Dame Nancy Rothwell, President and Vice-Chancellor of The ¼â½ÐÊÓƵapp, has been appointed as the new Chair of Corridor ¼â½ÐÊÓƵapp, a partnership of key institutions within the Oxford Road area of ¼â½ÐÊÓƵapp.

is home to an exceptional group of knowledge-intensive organisations and businesses and the partnership is committed to generating further economic growth.

Professor Rothwell took over as Chair from Professor John Brooks on 1 June following his retirement. During Professor Brooks’ time at the helm of the Corridor Board, he has steered the development of a new strategic vision for a decade of opportunity, to position Corridor for a bright future. During a recent visit by Bruce Katz of , he recognised Corridor as being one of the top innovation districts in Europe.

Professor John Brooks said: “It has been an honour and a privilege to Chair the Corridor over the past five years. I am delighted that the Corridor is now recognised as a driving force for the knowledge economy, not only in the UK, but worldwide. I am confident that Dame Nancy and other Board members will lead the Corridor into its next phase of international development.”

Dame Nancy said: “Corridor ¼â½ÐÊÓƵapp is a unique partnership which aims to make the Corridor one of the UK’s leading locations for knowledge-based businesses, R&D and learning and knowledge. The ¼â½ÐÊÓƵapp will continue to work with our partners to deliver the future success of the Corridor and, as Chair, I am committed to progressing the strategy and building on the great work started by John.”

Sir Richard Leese, Leader of , said: "There's no doubt that Corridor ¼â½ÐÊÓƵapp - right at the heart of ¼â½ÐÊÓƵapp's knowledge-based industries - has made a major contribution to the success of the city and is going to have an even more important part to play in the years ahead. I'd like to pay tribute to the work of outgoing chair Professor John Brooks who has helped set the Corridor on a dynamic path as a centre of research and cultural excellence. Professor Rothwell has the vision and drive to build on and take this work forwards in the years ahead."
